Mavrik Geyer Signs With Perth Bears

The Perth Bears are delighted to announce that Mavrik Geyer, the son of Western Reds legend Mark, has signed with the club on a two-year deal to start in 2027.

A member of the 2024 Penrith Panthers Premiership winning squad, Geyer will follow in his father’s footsteps when he runs onto HBF Park for the Perth Bears next season.

Mark Geyer played 33 First Grade games for the Western Reds between 1995-96.

And now it’s 25-year-old Mavrik’s opportunity to be a trailblazer and create history as an inaugural member of the Perth Bears squad.

“It’s a pretty special moment for our family to have the chance to represent the Bears in their first season,” Mavrik said.

“Dad loved his time in Perth, and I feel privileged to have the opportunity to represent the proud people of Western Australia.

“I know how passionate they are about their sport and I can’t wait to run onto HBF Park next season.”

Since making his First-Grade debut in 2024, Geyer has played 16 First Grade games for the Penrith Panthers and Wests Tigers.

Strong and mobile, with the ability to play in the middle or an edge, Perth Bears Head Coach Mal Meninga said Geyer’s versatility will be invaluable.

“Mav works very hard in both attack and defence and I’m excited to see what he can bring to our squad for next season,” Meninga said.

“He is effective in the middle and on the edge. He will make an immediate impact in our footy team.

“It’s a pretty special moment for Mav and his family and I’m delighted to welcome them all back to Western Australia.”
